Over the past few days I’ve noticed something disturbing on social media…”woke conservatives.” Since the verdict in the Chauvin case it has been interesting to see a number of individuals who are running for public office posting on social media in support of “justice being served.”
Regardless what your personal opinion is on what the verdict should have been, justice was not served in this case because our judicial process was not carried out as it is intended. The judicial system is NOT to be politicized. The judicial branch of our government is separate for a reason. When politicians interfere with the process, it does not allow for “justice to be served.”
For justice to be served, juries cannot be influenced by politicians. We had the President of the United States say on tv before the verdict was reached that he “prayed for the right outcome” in this case. We had Representative Maxine Waters claiming that there was only one possible verdict in this case.
“We’re looking for a guilty verdict. And we’re looking to see if all of this [inaudible] that took place and has been taking place after they saw what happened to George Floyd.
“And we’ve got to get more active,” Waters unadvisedly continued. “[We’ve] got to get more confrontational. … We’ve got to make sure that they know we mean business.”
Our justice system has been politicized by the left in an effort to demand a very specific outcome. And they got it. We will never know how these statements by these politicians and so many others may have impacted this jury, but we know for sure, this is NOT how our justice system is designed to work.
When I see Conservative Republican candidates jump on board the “justice is served” bandwagon on this particular case it makes me very angry. As conservatives we need to stand up and preserve the integrity of our judicial system. When we say that justice was served in a case where the system was interrupted, we are giving into the left – we’re giving them exactly what they want and we are enabling them. If we do not stand up and say “No, justice was not served. Justice was interrupted”, we will very quickly see our judicial system erode even further.
As we head into another election cycle and next year’s mid-terms, it’s very important that we back candidates who are going to stand strong for American values. We cannot afford to elect spineless “woke conservatives” who want to dance the line between the conservatives and the left. There is no “middle” anymore. The left has done away with any middle ground or idea of “moderate.” The line has been drawn. You are either going off the left cliff with the Democrat party or you stand for American values. We have seen what happens when we “give an inch.” How has that worked for Washington state? Not very well. It has become a disaster.
Now, more than ever before, we need to put forward America-loving conservatives who are willing to stand their ground and not attempt to appease liberals. We need to give our full support to candidates and elected leaders who are willing to fight the good fight with us. We don’t have time or money to waste on “woke conservatives.”
As we roll into these election cycles, Conservative Ladies of Washington is dedicated to supporting these candidates who will fearlessly fight for America, for Washington and for us!
