Over the past 10 days we have witnessed the “worst foreign policy disaster in a generation.” The Biden Administration’s withdrawal from Afghanistan has been a complete and utter failure, leaving American citizens, innocent Afghan citizens and our allies in extreme danger, with many dead and many more to come. It didn’t have to be this way.
In case it wasn’t clear to you before, there ought to be no doubt in your mind that those at the helm of our government do not care about their citizens. They do not value human life.
Yesterday, White House Press Secretary Jenn Psaki, told Fox News reporter Peter Doocy that Americans are not “stranded” in Afghanistan. “We are in touch with them via phone, via text, via email, via any way we can possibly reach Americans to get them home.” I don’t know about you, but if I’m hiding out in a home in Afghanistan trying to avoid being found and executed by the Taliban, receiving a text from my government isn’t really very reassuring.
Let’s face it, this withdrawal was reckless and poorly planned – if it was “planned” at all. This was avoidable. They could have and should have evacuated all of our American citizens before withdrawing our troops, allowing the Taliban to take over. Our government didn’t even bother to consider allowing our allies to get out of dodge before chaos ensued.
Most Americans will agree: it was far past time to get out of this war in Afghanistan. I hope that most Americans, regardless of political affiliation will also agree that the method of withdrawal was a complete disaster that will end up costing thousands of innocent lives.
Joe Biden was on vacation much of last week, making the occasional tv appearance, taking few if any, questions. Kamala Harris is in East Asia doing who-knows-what while this disaster unfolds. She is caught cackling for the cameras as she arrives in Vietnam while people are dying in Afghanistan. How is the Vice President of the United States so carefree and jolly as utter chaos is happening on her watch?!
Because this administration does not care about human life. They do not care about you and me. They do not care about the United States soldiers who died in Afghanistan. They do not care about the impact this is having on our veterans and the families of those who died. They do not care about those left behind in Kabul who are hiding in fear, terrified they will not make it out alive.
We worry about mask and vaccine mandates, thinking if we yell and make noise and protest about it, our government might care and change their minds. Please have no doubt in your mind after this last week – our government does not care. If they are willing to leave our Americans stranded (YES!! STRANDED) in Afghanistan, they absolutely do not care if you lose your job because you are making your choice not to receive an injection into your body.
I realize this is not a happy message. What we are seeing right now is exactly the reason our Founding Fathers created the Constitution. All checks and balances have gone out the window. We are dealing with a government that is power hungry and will stop at nothing to gain more and more control.
As we look back on the history of our great nation, we can draw strength and inspiration from those who have gone before us, who have given everything in the fight for our freedoms. I believe we are going to be a part of history. It’s our turn. Will we choose to put it all on the line to preserve the freedoms of America for our future generations? I know I will.
