This email from Evergreen Healthcare was sent last week to all patients of record. It caused an uproar among parents and citizens all over Washington and beyond. This law that allows children age 13 and older to have confidential access to their own medical and mental healthcare records is not new. It’s a Washington state law that has been in place for years now and was likely buried or disguised in a larger healthcare bill.
If you pay any attention to legislation in Washington you will see an abundance of anti-family, anti-parent bills that the Democrats are trying to push through into law. There are so many that to most people it’s overwhelming. How do you keep up? How do you have time to comment on every bill? How do you find the time to email or call your representatives and senators? Most of us have jobs, families, maybe running a business…we don’t have time for this.
Sadly, this is one of the reasons we are where we are. This is one of the reasons that so many of us are blindsided by this news that our 13 year olds have control over their own healthcare and they…THE CHILDREN…get to decide if we, the parents, get the information. We’ve been busy and we haven’t been paying attention. And the Democrats have had the majority in Washington state for as long as I can remember.
Please don’t look at this email, read this law, and think: It won’t happen to me. I’ll get all the info from my kid. I just won’t pay the bill.
It doesn’t work that way. We cannot afford to have that attitude. First of all, the state would gladly pay for whatever it is your child wants. They are more than happy to take you out of the equation and put your child on government programs. This gives the government more control, which is preferred. Aside from the financial aspect, your teen has legal rights to their medical privacy. This is a law and we, as parents, do not have a say. Yes, it’s wrong.
This means, your teenage daughter can have an abortion and no one has to tell you. You will receive the bill and your insurance company does not have to tell you what it was for. Your teenage son can have a drug test and no one has to tell you the results. Your teenager can be given gender-changing hormones and it is, by law, none of your business.
Are you angry yet? Are you scared? I hope so! This is all part of the agenda of the left and it has been happening little by little over decades. I have experienced this with my own teenage children and most recently in an extremely terrifying situation with one of my youngest children. “Health care professionals” in Washington did everything in the power to work against my husband and me, as parents. For so many years I wanted nothing to do with politics and government. I was busy. It was complicated. I didn’t really care. It didn’t seem to impact me. And now I see how my attitude and ignorance and apathy has played a part in getting us HERE. Is it too late? I hope not.
