School Based Health Centers will be codified into law HB 1225 passes.

Our schools can’t even give our children an aspirin without our consent. This law would allow school counselors working through the health clinic, (who’s access is made even easier now with telemedicine), to evaluate your children over a screen and make life altering decisions about the state of their mental health.
Parents are omitted from the decision-making process but are left to pick up the tab.

Coming up in 2021:

SB-5044

Concerning professional learning, equity, cultural competency, and dismantling institutional racism in the public school system.

Requires staff to take training on cultural competency so they can dismantle institutionalized racism.  School districts will be required to review their policies to implement an “equity lens” that will force teachers and students to conform their mindset and behaviors to the “proper”  way of thinking about race, religion, sexuality and gender.  Such programs in other states have created great divisions by introducing concepts such as oppressed students and priviledged students based on the perceived color of their skin.  Mult-racial families with parents and siblings of different skin tones will look at their brother/sister/mother/father as different.

SB-5227

Requiring diversity, equity, inclusion, and antiracism training and assessments at institutions of higher education.
Sponsors: Randall, Nobles, Das, Lovelett, Wilson, C., Hasegawa, Hunt, Keiser, Kuderer, Liias, Nguyen, Stanford

The legislature finds that developing and maintaining a culture of belonging and support for students, faculty, and staff at institutions of higher education is essential to student success, and that faculty and staff play a key role. The legislature therefore seeks to ensure that public institutions of higher education provide faculty and staff, as well as students, with training to give them
tools to address matters related to antiracism, diversity, equity,
and inclusion.

SB-5030

Developing comprehensive school counseling programs.

By Senators Mullet, Wellman, Conway, Darneille, Hasegawa, Kuderer,
Liias, Lovelett, Nguyen, Rivers, Salomon, and Wilson, C.
Prefiled 12/22/20. Read first time 01/11/21. Referred to Committeeon Early Learning & K-12 Education.

Mandating a comprehensive school counseling program that will align all counselors to a national standard that will focus on academic, career, personal and social emotional needs of all students.   There will be standards set for student mindset and behavior and counselor ethics.  One-size-fits-all national standards do not acknowledge the various differences in family values.  The school will expect each student to comply with the secular government school standards and value system.  Another great concern is what types of data will be collected on our children for “program results” and communication with students and parents. ANTI GUN Legislation in 2021
Last week the Senate held hearings for two bills designed to further impede our Second Amendment rights. SB-5078 and SB-5038 have both been passed to the rules committee for a second hearing. It is important that you take action on voicing your opposition to these bills NOW.

WA HB-1283

House Bill 1283 will make it a felony to openly carry a firearm (or any weapon) in a group.  Further, this measure contains no exceptions for individuals who are defending themselves at home or on their own property. Not even law enforcement, military, or those carrying firearms in an official capacity are exempted.  HB 1283 overreaches in its intent by causing those who are lawfully carrying a concealed firearm to be entrapped by a felony charge if the firearm accidentally becomes visible. HB 1283 throws such a wide net that many law-abiding gun owners could potentially become felons if this measure is passed, and it needs to be stopped!
